[Case Study] Carbon Fiber Cutting Blade <Achieving Cost Reduction with Stable Machine Operation>

After about a year of trial and error and repeated testing, we achieved results that are more than three times our initial goal in terms of durability.

Here is an introduction to a case study of a major textile factory that implemented the "Carbon Fiber Cutting Blade" from Kai Corporation. In the manufacturing process of carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP), a blade was developed to finely cut carbon fibers as thin as human hair. The development aimed to extend durability and prevent fiber remnants, and after about a year of trial and error and repeated testing, we achieved results that exceeded the initial durability target by more than three times. With stable machine operation now possible, significant cost reductions were realized, leading to great satisfaction from the client. [Case Study] ■ Implementing Company: Major Textile Factory ■ Customer's Challenges - The blades previously used had a short durability - There was variability in blade edge quality, leading to instability in the cutting process *For more details, please refer to the related links or PDF materials, or feel free to contact us.

[Example] Urethane Sheet Cutting Blade <Improved Workability>

We have developed a cutting tool for trimming burrs generated in the manufacturing of automotive seat foam.

We would like to introduce a case study of a major automotive seat polyurethane foam factory that has implemented the "urethane sheet cutting blade" from Kai Corporation. The customer's request was to achieve a blade that cuts smoothly and effortlessly. During the development phase, it was discovered that thin and soft polyurethane is a very difficult material to cut. After about six months of trial and error and repeated testing, we sharpened the blade angle and applied a fluorine coating. As a result, we were able to develop a blade that cuts smoothly, greatly improving work efficiency, and the customer was very satisfied. [Case Study] ■ Implementing Company: Major automotive seat polyurethane foam factory ■ Customer's Challenge - Burrs generated during the molding of polyurethane cannot be cut off with a dull blade. *For more details, please refer to the related links or PDF materials, or feel free to contact us.

[Case Study] Polarizer Cutting Blade <Successful Development of High-Durability Blade>

Since fine chipping can lead to product defects, high process management was also required.

We would like to introduce a case study of a major polarizing film manufacturing factory that implemented the "Polarizing Film Cutting Blade" from Kai Corporation. We developed a blade for cutting polarizing films used in LCD TVs and smartphones. Since polarizing films are made of very hard materials, we conducted extensive research on what angle to set the blade tip. Additionally, because fine chipping can lead to product defects, high process management was also required. As a result, we successfully developed a highly durable blade that does not compromise the high picture quality of LCDs. The durability far exceeded our customer's expectations, leading to significant cost reductions. [Case Study] ■ Implementing Company: Major Polarizing Film Manufacturing Factory ■ Customer's Challenges - A high-quality blade tip is needed because the cutting surface affects picture quality - High durability is required *For more details, please refer to the related links or PDF materials, or feel free to contact us.

Achieving a clean cutting surface - Film cutting blade

With a thickness of 0.5mm and a tip angle finished to 22°, it has been made into a "sharp angle."

The cutting of film has three main requests: 1. A clean finish on the cutting surface, 2. Durability, and 3. The ear standing up when rolled (suppressing the bulging at both ends). The cleanliness of the cutting surface is primarily determined by the "finish of the blade edge." At Kai Corporation, as a razor manufacturer, we produce high-quality blades, so please check the difference in quality for yourself. *The blade introduced here is a thick blade of 0.5mm, finished with a sharp edge angle of 22° to enhance the clean finish of the cutting surface. It is optimal for cutting PET (polyethylene terephthalate), PP (polypropylene), PVC (polyvinyl chloride), and aluminum vapor-deposited films. Applicable blade: 0.5×18.4×40L 22° *For more details, please click on the Kai Corporation machine blade site below.
